REGISTRATION, INFORMATION, AND DETAILS
Registration opens on Monday, March 3, at 10:00 AM and closes Friday, March 7, at 3:00 PM.
Registration will take place on Active Network via the button on your Parent Portal.
HERE are step-by-step guidelines on how to use the new Active Network registration system.
The third trimester begins Tuesday, April 1 and runs through Friday, June 6.
All classes will be held in-person and the first session will begin at 3:30 PM and end at 4:30 PM. The second session will begin at 4:45 PM and end at 5:45 PM. Students will be brought into the cafeteria afterschool and in between sessions to ensure they get to their afterschool classes. Snack will be provided prior to each session. If you sign up for a second session class, you must sign up for a first session class.
INspeyerED Afterschool classes only meet when Speyer is in session for a full day. Accordingly, the number of times each class meets and price varies depending on which day of the week it meets, and on how many of those days Speyer is in full session.
A discount is available to families who receive tuition assistance. A discount code will be provided to such families on Thursday, February 27.
Drop-In Option: If you need childcare for just one day, there is a drop in option for General Afterschool. If this is needed, please email msegal@speyerlegacyschool.org to register your child.
Late Pick- Fee Up: If you are late for pick-up (after 3:30 PM), your child will be brought to General Afterschool and you will be charged for the session.
Cancellations: In the event of inclement weather, INspeyerED Afterschool classes may be canceled.
Refunds: Once you have registered for a class, your payment is fully refundable until Friday March 7 at 3:00 PM. There will also be no refunds if your child is absent or if there is a substitute teacher. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
Late Fee: There will be a late fee of $50 for any new registrations or changes made to existing registrations that occur after Friday March 7 at 3:00 PM.
Any registrations made after registration closes will be made solely at the discretion of administrators and instructors and will be prorated based on the number of sessions remaining.
Minimum/Maximum Enrollment: A minimum enrollment is required for a class to run. Should that number not be met, the class will not be offered and payment will be refunded. Space considerations and instructor discretion dictate the maximum for each class. There will be no exceptions to maximum enrollment or to the grades permitted in each class. Classes that are under enrolled will be closed on Wednesday afternoon during registration. Once this happens, families enrolled in those classes will be notified and provided with a list of what classes will be running on that given day of the week.
Waitlist: If a desired class is full you may add your child to the waitlist, from which students will be added if another student withdraws.
Code of Conduct: All rules and guidelines set forth in the Speyer Legacy School’s family handbook extend into INspeyerED Afterschool. All instructors are aware of and enforce school rules. Not following the rules of the class, repeated disruption, and disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to remove a child from a class because of behavior issues and may exclude that child from the program in the future if improvement is not immediate or consistent. There will be no refund in such cases.

Girls Running Club
This before-school club is designed to keep Speyer girls moving and having fun. Join a supportive group of girlfriends running outside once a week. Girls will learn basic running form, perseverance, and respect, all while having fun with friends and staying active. Other benefits of running include improved flexibility and endurance. This is not a competitive group- all abilities are welcome. Girls will gradually build distance during the trimester and participate together in an end-of-term “long run.” We will meet at school to drop our backpacks and proceed from there to an outdoor running location, so you must be prompt! Sessions will include warm up and cool down drills, stretching and running. No fancy equipment is required to run- please send your child to school with supportive sneakers, comfortable clothing, a full water bottle and a great attitude!

Underwater Paradise with Speyer Teacher Allison Moorhead
Is your child ready to explore the wonders of the ocean through art? In our Underwater Paradise program, young artists will embark on a colorful journey beneath the waves, bringing sea creatures to life with both watercolor painting and drawing. Each week, they will refine their skills, experimenting with exciting techniques like blending watercolors to mimic the flowing currents, adding texture to create realistic scales and shells, and using shading and detail to capture the beauty of the ocean’s creatures.

In this Experiential learning course we will take a hands-on approach in preparing various dishes extending from all around the world. Throughout each class, every little chef will be skilled in understanding different measurements, temperature testing and important cooking intelligence. In our Level 1 Cooking Course, not only will we prepare simple fun dishes like french toast and crepes from scratch. Speech and Debate
Debate is one of the most important aspects of our lives. From national politics to conversations with our friends, every one of us has experienced some level of debate. In this afterschool class, students will learn to develop their debating and public speaking skills to new heights, and gain lifelong skills that apply to a wide variety of subjects. As a seasoned debater of both middle and high school debate, I will use my experience and passion for the art of debate to instruct each student with a robust debate curriculum. Pass the Bricks with Speyer Parent Lisa Cobert
Design your own LEGO sets and spread the joy of LEGO to other children! Pass the Bricks is a nonprofit organization that collects and repurposes used LEGO bricks into “new” sets for kids who wouldn’t otherwise have access to them, either directly or through non-profit partners.
The Pass the Bricks afterschool program gives Speyer students the opportunity to channel their LEGO creativity into charitable giving, specifically benefitting children in underserved communities.

This is the perfect club for arts and crafts enthusiasts who love working with their hands and getting messy! Have you ever imagined creating a polka-dotted dinosaur with a sparkly unicorn horn? Bring your wackiest and wildest ideas to life every week in a creative exploration of arts and crafts. In each class, artists can express themselves while diving into a new, hands-on art project. The Mixed Media Art Club allows artists to participate in different arts and crafts projects each week or biweekly. Artists will work with various mediums and projects to explore their creativity and passion for working with their hands! Some projects include working with clay to make sculptures, creating shrinkable plastic art, painting squishy toys, tie-dying shirts, creating colorful slime, pouring sand art, and so much more. Pokemon
One of the world’s most popular trading card games, Pokémon, comes to Speyer this Winter! In this afterschool, students will learn about strategy, mathematics, and more as they build “decks” filled with fantastic creatures and intricate strategies alike. Classes will learn the Pokémon TCG rules, how to understand the complex strategies and combinations of thousands of different cards, and how to individually construct a 60+ card deck of cards that they will compete against others with. Pokémon TCG is a deep and strategic game, and each match requires planning, lateral thinking, and a competitive spirit. Students will be encouraged to experiment with different ideas and strategies, while enjoying friendly competition and meeting new friends. Fencing with New Amsterdam Fencing
Fencers in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade engage in a group class that uses the building blocks of competitive fencing to emphasize the importance of working together while also fostering the child’s ability to think individually and critically starting from an early age. The development of hand-eye coordination, general fitness, and body movement begun at the previous level is age appropriately elevated here to fit the advanced abilities of older elementary school students. Training is geared towards developing speed, strength, endurance, confidence, focus and self-control, all skills that help children do well not merely in fencing, but in school and in other organized sports.
