Speyer Soccer Season Wraps Up with Dragon Determination!

That's a wrap on Speyer Soccer for the year — and what a way to go out! Our Speyer Dragons traveled to Chelsea Park to face off against a league rival: the Gaynor Gators. With the entire Mixed 7/8 and Mixed 5/6 teams on hand for this final match of the season, it was a wonderful full team effort!

Taking the field in their final game for Speyer, the Dragon eighth graders showed great poise and pride. The passing, communication, and teamwork were excellent, which led to an early goal by Kulyan B. with the assist going to Jordy L. Shortly after, Gaynor committed a foul in the box which led to an opportunity to score again with the penalty kick. Johan M-L. calmy stepped up and scored, taking the score to 2-0! Our Dragons scored once more before the half, as Zachary L. found Oliver B. down the middle. Speyer kept the intensity in the second half, though Gaynor scored halfway through the period and, with just 5 minutes left, scored again. However, the goal was called back for a foul. Undeterred, Speyer kept their winning momentum…and won the game 3-1. Everyone who suited up in this final game contributed to the great team victory!

The 2023-2024 season was, in a word, awesome and created so many memories for both of the teams. We are so proud of all of our athletes and want to send a huge shout-out to everyone who came to cheer on the Dragons, as well as send a special high-five to Coach Renato and Coach Kevin for a terrific season! GO DRAGONS!
