Middle School Scientists Celebrate Their Year-Long Research Projects!

The Fifth Grade Science Fair and Sixth Grade STEM Fair took over the Dining Hall and were true celebrations of curiosity, creativity, and independent learning. Over the course of the full school year, our students took ownership of their research projects — choosing topics, asking questions, testing ideas, and refining their work with impressive dedication. Not only does this project embrace and stretch our students' Science knowledge, it builds many other skills such as time management muscles, planning and prioritizing awareness, and so on.

The culmination of this year-long unit are these fairs, held over two days when the Dining Hall is filled with energy and excitement and Science is at the center of every conversation. Families, students from other grades, faculty, and staff explored a wide range of topics as they visited the fairs — from engineering designs featuring motion-sensored music and lights to investigations of bacteria grown in petri dishes to experiments focused on the most effective ways to grow plants and food, the topics were vast and impressive. It was a wonderful event allowing students to confidently share their thinking while teaching others something new.

Shout-out to all of our Fifth and Sixth Grade scientists as well as MS Science Teachers Ms. Koralewski and Mr. G for their guidance and support! GO DRAGONS!
