Dragon Athletics

Fun fact: our Varsity Girls Volleyball team is the current two-time APSL B Division Volleyball Champions!

At Speyer, it’s our belief that student-athletes grow mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally through their involvement in competitive sports and our program prioritizes skill development and sportsmanship over trophies. Our definition of success is not about winning games, but competing with passion and taking pride in our accomplishments while developing important life skills along the way. In addition, our aim is to cultivate in our student-athletes an improved self-image, the ability to learn a new skill, and an intrinsic motivation for growth on and off the field or court.

For our Dragon Athletics, Speyer is a member of the American International Private School League (AIPSL). In addition to using our own gymnasium, our teams practice at the nearby Professional Children’s School (PCS) and in Central Park. Meets and games take place at various schools and public parks around the city.

Participation in Speyer Athletics is offered free of charge to all interested students without ability cuts; however, students are expected to meet high standards for behavior, sportsmanship, dedication, and commitment to be eligible to play. As our players travel outside the building for both practices and games, parents are also a vital part of the Athletics program, serving as Team Parents to support our coaches in communicating with families and supervising students outside of the building.
